SALAAM!

I decided to compose this text because I see that random people jump into my askbox and simultaneously inform me that they are somewhat interested in Islam. Not to intrigue or cause trouble to anyone but here’s some things I know and still discovering, I guess (Growing up as a Catholic, and discovering Islam later on)

First, let me just clear that we Muslims doesn’t have a different God. We all have one God and that is ALLAH. AL-The LAH-God. Allah in Arabic and His personal name. Yes God has a name. And because I took Religious Studies 55 during my last semester in College, for the first time, I’ve memorized the 10 commandments and one commandment says, “You shall not take the name of your Lord God in vain.” For me that confirms that God has a name and that is ALLAH subhanahu wa ta ‘ala. (Most Glorious, Most Exalted)

Second, He is ONE not 3-n-1. As the Qur’an says in Surah-Ikhlas,

“Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none comparable unto Him.”

And again, the Bible even confirms it, “the one who alone is truly God, the only one who is truly God, the one true God”

If it is not clear to you, I will let myself say it. Jesus or Isa(peace be upon him) is not God. But a mere Prophet. A Messiah. Sent by Allah to the land of Israel. I do not know with the others but Catholicism believes that Jesus is both the Messiah and God. Hows that possible? We cannot just believe in miracles that’s why Islam has answers to everything, Alhamdulillah. Glorify ALLAH!

Third, we Muslims believe in the Gospel of Jesus. But we reject the bible now as the Gospel sent by God to Jesus because the original copy, (as said to be Hebrew or Greek) is not available any where because thousands of diff copies are scattered and original copy of it is nowhere to be found. Bible itself even differs from one another. And I am sorry to say this, but even the contents of one bible contradicts with one another. Different stories and different figures in one event. As a seeker of truth, I only learned that when I discovered Islam! And if you do not believe me, then I will show you some verses. Take note this is from the bible.

2 Samuel 10:18- David killed 700 of their charioteers and 40 000 of their foot soldiers.

1 Chronicles 19:18- David killed 7000 of their charioteers and 40 000 of their foot soldiers.

2 Samuel 23:8- he raised his spear against 800 men

1 Chronicles 11:1- he raised his spear against 300 men

2 Samuel 24:9- In Israel there were eight hundred thousand able-bodied men who could handle a sword, and in Judah 500 000

1 Chronicles 21:5- In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who could handle a sword, including 470 000 in Judah

Genesis 6:19-20- You are to bring into the ark 2 of all living creatures (male and female)

Genesis 7:2 and Genesis 7:8,9- Take with you 7 pairs (male and female)

There’s a lot more. You can find it in the Muslim-Christian Dialogue book or simply google it.

Lastly, Christians believe that they are born with the “Original Sin” caused by Prophet Adam(a.s) (ALLAH FORBID!) but we Muslims believe that we are born sinless, that is why when I took the Shahadah, all my sins were erased, God willing because I was like a new born baby.

And about the praying, no doubt prostrations were done by the Prophets not only Prophet Muhammad(sallalahu ‘alayhi wa salaam).

The keypoints I discussed are significant and it’s up to you whether to leave it and just ignore it. Remember, God made us for a reason and He gave us intellectual understanding for us to be able to know the truth.
